Exceptional and age-appropriate choreography
Appropriate rehearsal expectations- no time away from school or late night rehearsals
Videography and photography included so you can enjoy your child’s performance
Specialised support and preparation for those anxious about performing
The Junior Program has two levels:
Prepatory- For children in Pre-Primary. Children at this level will develop their musicality, strength, and confidence. Junior dancers are given the opportunity to collaborate and perform with the upper school.
Preliminary- For children in Year 1. Children at this level continue to develop their skills and confidence. Once ready, ballet students will sit their first ballet exam through the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.
We are the only dance school in WA to deliver the russian-style syllabus from the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet, offering exceptional technique and designed to suit the needs of all classical ballet students who are unable to take full-time dance training from an early age. As part of our commitment to excellence in technique and longevity in dance, each child in our Elegance and Elevate program also receives individual coaching tailored to their needs in Progressing Ballet Technique and Alixa Flexibility to address issues in strength, flexibility and alignment.
All children in the Junior Program are strongly encouraged to take one class of ballet each week, starting at the prepatory level, this ensures strong technique and progression across all genres.Once ready, ballet students will sit an in-house exam at the Preparatory level and their first exam with the Australian Conservatoire of ballet in the Preliminary level.
Acrobatic Dance, or acro as it is commonly referred to by, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements.EDI is an accredited provider of the world-reknowned Acrobatic Arts Syllabus. The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts in many dance genres, gymnasts, contortion experts and physiotherapists, you will not find a more comprehensive program.
Children who are enrolling in acro at in this program must take a technique dance class alongside acro (ballet or jazz) for them to be able to adequately develop their skills and ability to pick up choreography for performance.
Tap is a fun style of dance that anyone can learn, regardless of previous dance experience. Benefits of tap dance include increasing cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Cognitive abilities are also enhanced, as tap dancers must develop both mental and muscle memory to become proficient at tapping.
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet.
Spanish is an excellent introduction to character styles, and is a fun and expressive dance form. Not “just a folk dance”, Spanish teaches posture, poise, versatility and musicality while incorporating classical technique. Flamenco has been classified by UNESCO as “World Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
Eden teaches the Instituto de la Danza Española (IDE) syllabus. Founded by Deanna Blacher OAM in 1984, the Instituto has developed a regulated and examined syllabus for Spanish Dance students, and offers expert training for Spanish Dance students and teachers while providing performance opportunities and workshops with world-renowned artists. The IDE teaches all the Spanish dance genres – Flamenco, Classico Español, Folk and Escuela Bolera, while incorporating language, theory and historical knowledge of the Spanish dance forms.
At the junior and intermediate level, flamenco is beneficial to all dancers, helping to develop musicality, gross motor, coordination and rhythmic understanding. However, at the senior level, we recommend the child takes one ballet or jazz class a week to assist with the classical components of the syllabus.
